I can't believe that I have been doing this for 4 years. I tackled my first one with my girl friends in the Fall of 2006 and it has grown ever since.  Over the years there have been 9 pregnant ladies (including me). I think there were 4 at the first one!!!. I have met some new ladies and have also had some of my friends and customers attend every one! My Mom is the greatest and I can't thank her enough for all the work she puts into each weekend, she keeps the girls coming back wondering what the next "Big Giveaway" is going to be and we keep it under tight wraps until the first night….and this weekend is NO exception…sorry ladies, no spoilers. I will post a pic of all of us after the weekend.

Mom is taking pics of the past items we have done and I hope to get them on here soon.

The basement looks so empty with everything in boxes ready to go……here's hoping I don't forget anything!!

So I found these CUTE heart-shaped ceramic dishes at Michaels….of course!! I then hit up my good "friend" Betty Crocker for her Cherry-Chip cake mix and poured the batter into the 2 dishes. Popped them into a cello bag, and added a personalized tag and DONE!……I turned the remaining batter into cupcakes for Kendra’s class.

I had already ordered SU’s "Love Bots" mini box valentines for Rylan to give to his classmates after I filled them with 4 heart-shaped chocolates that I spent Tuesday making………The things Mommies do for their kiddies.  :-)

Some of you already know that I lost my best friend and past downline member, Kelly on Nov. 19 to complications of Lupus.  She was a treasured friend for 20 years and we both shared a love of crafts and stamping. She owned her own natural baby product line called Nature’s Baby Basket and was the beloved wife and mother of 2 boys aged 2 and 7. She will be dearly missed by a great deal of people.

I have decided that this All-Day Scrap will be a dedication to her, I am calling it "Krop for Kelly". It will run the same way as the past scrap days with a pot luck for the meals, as well as prizes, challenges, LOTS of scrap time (9am-midnight) and even a  "garage sale" table.  After the hall rental costs are covered the remaining proceeds will be going to a trust fund for Kelly’s boys….they have a very long road ahead of them and I would like to help in any way I can.

I am looking for donations that I can use for raffle draw items so if you or someone you know would like to make a contribution, please feel free to contact me.

The donation cost for each person for the WHOLE day is only $40 and 100% of the raffle draw proceeds are also going to the trust fund.  If you decide to place an order on this day I will have customer specials with my sales profits being donated as well.

Contact me for your registration form, payment is required by Feb. 15th. Due to the nature of the event, I’m sorry by there will not be refunds given. You may find a replacement for your spot though.

There are a few things I would like to talk about today so please be sure to finish reading the whole post.

  • It is SALE-A-BRATION time!!! and it is running for 3 months! From now until the end of March, if you place a $65 order(net) you can choose ONE item from the SAB mini. There are also a list of sets from the regular Catty that you can choose from too.
  • SAB is a great time to hold your own workshop, so contact me today to set yours up.
  • Registration for the March Scrap retreat has started so contact me for your registration form!!!
  • I am working on another card class for February, it will be Birthday/All Occasion styles.

 

I am really looking forward to putting 2009 behind me and hoping for a much better 2010.  It has been a difficult year for so many people. ]]> http://wildrosepapercreations.com/happy-new-year/feed 0 Advent Calendar http://wildrosepapercreations.com/advent-calendar http://wildrosepapercreations.com/advent-calendar#comments Sat, 05 Dec 2009 03:13:56 +0000 Amber http://wildrosepapercreations.com/?p=420 Last year I created an advent calendar using a canvas and little watchmaker tins. The idea was brilliant but mine did NOT want to co-operate and the tins fell off constantly.  I ended up putting it away and buying the cheap chocolate version from Wal-mart.  WELL, this year I decided to try again.  I got the idea from a demonstration of a "12 days of Christmas"  that was done at Michaels and thought I could modify it to be a great new advent calendar and make use of the 24 decorated tins I already had. 

So here it is……..

The first part of the calendar counts from December 1st to 12th. Since Kendra’s birthday is on the 11th, she gets to have this one hang on her door as a count down to her birthday as well.

 

Rylan gets to have 13 through 24 on his door

Both need a little dressing up with some ribbon still but you get the overall idea. Each tin gets a special treat placed in it by one of Santa’s elves each night after they go to bed. I made tiny little Santa chocolates to place in them.

Super easy to make:

In the florist department of Michaels are these MDF wreath rings…they come in many sizes…I used 2 12" sized rings.

Then I painted them with an olive coloured paint

Decorate the tins with designer paper and make the numbers to go on each of the plastic lids.

Using velcro squares, stick one piece of the velcro to the wood in a clock style pattern.

Stick the other piece of the velcro to the bottom of the tin

Fill with small treats or toys.

 

 

Enjoy this quick and easy craft!!! sorry it’s a few days late.
